Provisional Licence
Before you can take your practical test, you need to pass your provisional licence test. It’s a really important part of learning to drive: when you get to your practical test, you’ll need to to show that you can use what you learn for this test when you’re driving on the road.
You can apply for your provisional licence by completing the T.O.M.7B application form, available at the local district Department of Road Transport (DoRT) office.
In order to apply for your provisional driving licence, you need to:
- Turn 17 within 5 months (but you need to wait until you be 18 before you can book you driving practical test and drive on the road)
- Have a valid proof of identity
- Live in the CY
- Two recent passport-sized photographs
- Be able to read a new-style number plate from 20 metres or an old-style number plate form 20.5 metres
- Not be prevented from driving for any reason
- Be able to pay €10 by debit or credit card
